MSSU track and field teams to compete at Arkansas Qualifier

(From MSSU Lions Athletic News)

The No. 2 ranked Missouri Southern women and No. 6 ranked men's track and field teams will return to the Randal Tyson Track Center in Fayetteville, Arkansas this weekend for the 2020 Arkansas Qualifier.

The meet will be the final tune up for the Lions before the 2020 Mid-America Intercollegiate Athletic Association Indoor Track and Field Championships, which are set to take place next week at the Robert W. Plaster Center in Pittsburg, Kansas.

The Arkansas Qualifier is a one-day meet that is set to commence at 1:45 p.m. on Friday with field events while track events are scheduled to start at 4:30 p.m.

Earlier this week, the Division II Indoor Track & Field Rating Index had both men's and women's teams ranked in the top six of the national polls. The men stayed steady at No. 6 while the women moved up two spots from No. 4 to No. 2, their highest ranking in indoor track, ever.

The squads will look to improve on their already impressive marks for the NCAA Indoor Track and Field Championships which are scheduled for March 13 and 14 in Birmingham, Alabama.

The women have three automatic and 17 provisional marks and eight top-10 marks while the men have three automatic qualification marks and 11 provisional marks with seven of those in the top-10.
