Cam Martin named MIAA Player of the Week for the fifth time this season

For the fifth time this season Missouri Southern junior Cam Martin has been named the MIAA Men's Basketball Player of the Week as the league announced its winners today.

Martin shares the award this week with Northwest Missouri's Trevor Hudgins.

Martin, a native of Yukon, Okla. helped the Lions to a 2-0 record this week with wins at both Washburn and Emporia State.








The junior helped the Lions erase a 19-point deficit (14 points at halftime) to win at Washburn. In that game, he scored 40 points and had nine rebounds, going 15-of-23 from the field and 10-of-13 from the foul line.

At Emporia, he had 17 points and seven rebounds. For the week, Martin averaged 28.5 points, 8.0 rebounds, 2.0 blocks and 1.5 assists, while shooting 62 percent from the field and 82 percent from the free throw line.

Martin and the Lions have a matchup at home with No. 1 ranked Northwest Missouri this Thursday. Tip off from Robert Corn Court inside the Leggett & Platt Athletic Center is slated for 7:30 pm.
