For the third-straight week and the seventh time this season, Missouri Southern men's basketball player Cam Martin has been named the MIAA Men's Basketball Athlete of the Week as announced by the league office today.
Martin, a 6-9 native of Yukon, Okla., had a huge week for the Lions as he averaged 43.5 points, 11.5 rebounds 1.5 blocks and 0.5 assists while shooting 65 percent from the field and 87 percent from the free-throw line in two games for Missouri Southern.
He scored 33 points and brought down 11 rebounds as he went 14-of-21 from the field and 5-of-7 from the free-throw line against Northwest Missouri.
Against Missouri Western, Martin set a new MSSU single-game scoring record as he scored 54 points. He also tallied 12 rebounds and went 17-of-27 from the field while he was 15-of-16 from the free-throw line. The 54 points tops the previous single-game mark of 49 which he had tied with Carl Tyler (1984).
Martin and the Lions wrap up the regular season this week as Southern plays host to Central Missouri on Wednesday and Lincoln on Saturday.
