Campbell sets MSSU record for blocks in 76-47 loss to Missouri Western

ST. JOSEPH, Mo.-Missouri Southern State University junior Zoe Campbell had a first quarter block to tie the Southern career record for blocks. The block, her 109th of her career, came in MSSU's 76-47 loss to Missouri Western on Saturday night.

With 5:30 left in the opening quarter, Southern scored their first bucket of the night off a Zoe Campbell second-chance bucket.

During a portion of the first in which the Lions trailed by 16 points, 18-2 Campbell secured her 58th block of the season to tie the Southern career record for blocks at 109. They trailed 22-6 after one quarter.








The Griffons outscored MSSU 25-9 in the second quarter and 21-10 in the third. The Lions did outscore Missouri Southern 22-8 in the fourth quarter.

As a team, Southern was perfect (10-of-10) from the free throw line as Destiny Cozart was the leading scorer for MSSU. She hit 7-of-12 shots from the field to score 18 points.

The Lions, now 9-16 overall and 6-11 in the MIAA return home on Wednesday to take on the University of Central Missouri at 5:30 p.m.
