MSSU women's golf finishes 16th at NSU Golf Classic

Tahlequah, Okla. -- The Missouri Southern women's golf team finished in 16th place at its inaugural event today, as the team competed in the 20th Annual NSU Golf Classic at Cherokee Springs Golf Course in Tahlequah.

The Lions were paced by Kylie Carnes as she finished with a two-round total of 173, tied for 81st individually. Maggie Moore shot a 175 and was one spot behind Carnes, while Allison Cunningham shot a 180 to finish tied for 84th.

Elizabeth Poe shot a 181 and finished 86th, while Madison Soetaert shot a 197, finishing 89th.



Oklahoma Christian won the tournament by ten strokes over second-place Southwestern Oklahoma Central Oklahoma was third, followed by Northeastern State, Missouri Western, Central Missouri, Nebraska-Kearney, Arkansas-Fort Smith, Henderson State and Oklahoma Baptist to round out the top ten.

Lindenwood was 11th, followed by Northwest Missouri, Southern Nazarene, Fort Hays, Harding, Southern, Southwest Baptist and Lincoln.

The Lions will be back in action on October 1-2 as the team travels to Edmond, Okla. to take part in the UCO Invitational at the Golf Club of Edmond.
