First-ever MSSU women's golf team in 16th after first day of NSU Golf Classic

Tahlequah, Okla. -- The Missouri Southern women's golf team opened up the program's history today as the Lions competed in day one at the 20th Annual NSU Golf Classic hosted by Northeastern State at Cherokee Springs Golf Course.

The Lions finished in 16th place after day one with a team score of 355. Individually, Maggie Moore paced the Lions with a day one score of 85. Kylie Carnes and Allison Cunningham both shot an 89, while Elizabeth Poe and Madison Soetaert shot a 92 and 98, respectively.



Oklahoma Christian leads the team scores after day one by four strokes by the host NSU. Central Oklahoma and Southwestern Oklahoma State were tied for third, followed by Central Missouri, Arkansas-Fort Smith, Nebraska-Kearney, Missouri Western, Fort Hays, Oklahoma Baptist, Henderson State, Lindenwood, Harding, Southern Nazarene, Northwest Missouri, Southern, Southwest Baptist and Lincoln to round out the team scores.

The Lions will shoot a final 18 tomorrow to round out the tournament.
