The Missouri Southern volleyball team hung in with No. 17 Central Missouri, but couldn't quite get over the hump and fell three sets to none tonight inside Young Gymnasium. Individual set scores were 20-25, 21-25 and 11-25.

The lead for the Lions was four (14-10), but a 6-0 run from the Jennies gave Central a 16-14 lead, forcing a Southern timeout. The Lions kept it close, but a 4-1 run late put the Jennies up 23-19 and Central went on to win the set.

Set two saw the Lions again get out to a hot start. The set saw ten tied scores and five lead changes. The Lions led 6-1 and 8-4 early on, but Central tied it at ten midway through. The two teams traded leads for much of the next ten points, but the Lions went on a 3-0 run to lead 18-15, forcing a Jennies' timeout. Coming out of the timeout, Central tied the set at 19 and it was again tied at 20 and 21, before a point from the Jennies gave UCM a 22-21 lead, forcing a Lions' timeout. Central scored the final three points to take the set.

Set three was all Central. The Jennies led from the opening serve.

Southern will be back in action tomorrow afternoon as the Lions play host to Lindenwood. First-serve is set for 1 pm inside Young Gymnasium.
