Fayetteville, Ark. -- The Missouri Southern women's cross country placed 14th as a team and Ashlee Kuykendall was 26th as Southern competed in the 30th Annual Chili Pepper Festival at the University of Arkansas Agri Park.
The Lions were the fourth-highest finishing Division II program in the meet, behind Dallas Baptist, Drury and East Central. Kuykendall was the women's top finisher in 26th place with a time of 18:04.3 over the 5k course. Julianna Determan was 65th, while Kelie Henderson placed 68th. Mady Gepford placed 135th, while Alice Evans was 152nd.
Janna Hautala was 163rd.
Arkansas won the meet with 34 points as the Razorbacks had all five scoring runners in the top 15. Wichita State was second, followed by Iowa Central CC, Texas State, Dallas Baptist, Missouri State, Wayland Baptist, Drury, North Texas and South Alabama to round out the top ten. Central Arkanas, Stephen F. Austin, East Central, Southern, and Alabama-Huntsville round out the top-15.
The Lions will be back in action on October 13 when Southern travels to Fort Hays State.
