MSSU golf in 11th place after first day of The Mule

(From MSSU Lions Athletic News)

Warrensburg, Mo. -- The Missouri Southern men's golf team tied for the third-best team round of the day, shooting a 282 in round two, and the Lions are in 11th place after 36 holes at The Mule hosted by Central Missouri at Mule National Golf Course in Warrensburg.

Southern sits 19 shots off the lead after the first two rounds due in part to an excellent second round today that saw both Jeremy Dunham and Logan Greer shoot under par in the round.

Dunham shot a three-over 73 in round one, but rebounded to get a two-under 68 in the second round to finish one-over par and tied for 14th after day one. Tristan Haltom shot a 71 and a 72 to finish three over and tied for 24th, while Greer shot a nine-over in round one, but hit a three-under in the second round to finish six-over and tied for 43rd.

Adam Vining shot an eight-over, 148 and is tied for 62nd, while Jon Lenz shot a 169 on the day.

Central Missouri is one under and five strokes in front of its own B team which is tied with Harding for second place. Washburn is third, followed by Henderson state, Central Oklahoma and Southwestern Oklahoma tied at sixth, Missouri Western, Lindenwood and Drury rounding out the top-ten. Southern is 11th, followed by Northeastern State, Newman, Minnesota State, Lincoln, Upper Iowa, Augustana, and Fort Hays.

The Lions will play one final round of 18 tomorrow to round out the tournament.
