MSSU soccer starts four-game road trip Friday

(From MSSU Lions Athletic News)

The Missouri Southern women's soccer team kick starts a four-game road trip tomorrow against Lindenwood at 7:00 pm before facing No. 8 Central Missouri on Sunday, Sept. 30 at 1:00 pm.

The Lions (5-2-1, 1-0-0) opened conference play by getting revenge on Northeastern State with a 2-1 overtime win inside Fred G. Hughes Stadium a week after falling 6-2 to the Riverhawks in Tahlequah. Freshman Courtney Marten recorded her second overtime goal of the season after teammate Meredith Belrose launched a kick down the field that deflected off a NSU defender and allowed Marten to go one-on-one with the goalkeeper for the open netter.

It's the program's best stretch through eight games since 2007 when the Lions closed out the regular season with an 11-5-3 overall record.
