MSSU volleyball to play host to Northwest Missouri, Missouri Western this weekend

The Missouri Southern volleyball team will play host to Northwest Missouri and Missouri Western this weekend.

Southern will host Northwest Missouri on Friday at 6 pm and Missouri Western on Saturday at noon. Both matches will be played inside the Leggett & Platt Athletic Center as opposed to Young Gymnasium.

The Lions (1-11, 1-2 MIAA) are coming off a win at Southwest Baptist on Tuesday where the Lions won 3-1 in Bolivar. Janelle Brehm had 14 kills, while Alicia Pickett had ten. Kylee Kaaihue had 38 assists, while Morgan Nash and Bridgette Jaeger had 17 and nine digs, respectively. Jaeger added eight kills, while Katie Paine had eight digs.



Brehm leads the Lions with 3.15 kills per game this year, while Nash has a 3.39 digs per set average and Jaeger is at 3.29 digs per set. Pickett is averaging 0.76 blocks per set, while Kaaihue is averaging 4.59 assists per set in limited play.

Northwest Missouri is 11-3 overall and 3-0 in league play. The Bearcats are led offensively by Maddy Bruder with 4.38 kills per set, while Maddy Ahrens is dishing out 10.88 assists per set. Olivia Nowakowski is averaging 4.38 digs per set.

Missouri Western is 8-6 overall and 1-2 in MIAA play. The Griffons are led by Stephanie Doak at 3.94 kills per set, while Lauren Murphy is dishing out 11.31 assists per set. Audrey Keim is averaging 5.72 digs per set this season.
