Tahlequah, Okla. - The Missouri Southern women's soccer team suffered its first loss of the season to Northeastern State by a final score of 6-2 inside Dr. Dan F. Deloache Field Friday night.

The Lions (3-1-1) battled their way back to get even with the Riverhawks heading into halftime at 2-2 after falling behind by two goals early on in the first period.

With ten minutes remaining in the first period, senior Alex McCord converted on a penalty kick after the Riverhawks committed a foul within the box. McCord successfully made another one minutes later upon teammate sophomore forward Glory Amalaha getting fouled on a breakaway. She also finished the match as the leader in shots with four.

Freshman Ashlynn Pounds made her first start for the Lions in-between the posts, making five saves on 11 shots faced and 24 total shots seen from the Riverhawks.

NSU (5-0) scored in the first three minutes of the second period and added three more toward the four-goal victory.

The Lions look to get back on track as they travel to Southwest Baptist for a 2:00 pm match inside the SBU Soccer Field.
