MSSU volleyball at home this weekend against Central Missouri, Lindenwood

The Missouri Southern volleyball team will get back into MIAA action this weekend as the Lions play host to No. 17 Central Missouri on Friday night at 6 pm and Lindenwood on Saturday at 1 pm.

The Lions (2-13, 2-3 MIAA) are coming off of a split last weekend that saw a thrilling five-set win at home over Missouri Western. Trailing 2-0, the Lions stormed back and won in five.

Southern is led offensively by Janelle Brehm as the sophomore is averaging 2.78 kills per set this year and 2.68 digs per set. Brehmn ranks 36th nationally and second in the MIAA in attacks per set, while ranking 70th nationally and sixth in the league in total attacks.



Morgan Nash leads the Lions with 3.57 digs per set, while Alicia Pickett is averaging a team-best 0.82 blocks per set. Kylee Kaaihue is averaging 5.48 assists per set.

Central Missouri (13-4, 3-2 MIAA) has won three of its last four matches. The Jennies have two (Audrey Fisher and Kylie Hohlen) averaging over 3.00 kills per set, while Ally Offerdahl averages 10.63 assists per set. Abby Skrastins averages a team-high 4.97 digs per set.

Lindenwood (8-7, 0-5 MIAA) has lost five matches in a row since beginning MIAA play. The Lions are led by Alexa Pressley at 2.71 kills per set, while Bailey Dvorak averages 2.50 kills per set. Allyson Clancy averages 10.31 assists per set, while Sara Wagenknecht is averaging 3.54 digs per set.
