MSSU women's cross country places three runners in top 31 at Southern Stampede

Ashlee Kuykendall placed 10th and the Missouri Southern women's cross country team had three runners in the top-31 and the Lions placed ninth in the team standings at the 29th-annual Missouri Southern Stampede this morning at the Tom Rutledge Cross Country Course.

Kuykendall traversed the 5k course in a time of 17:50.9 as she was the fourth-best Division II runner in the event. Julianna Determan and Kelie Henderson placed 29th and 31st, respectively, with Determan crossing the finish line in a time of 18:34, while Henderson crossed in a time of 18:38.7.



Alice Evans finished 88th in a time of 19:28.9, while Janna Hautala placed 94th in a time of 19:31.2. Maddy Gepford placed 118th, while Sarah Peoples was 159th. Gabriel Hill (230th) and Danielle Prince (249th) round out the Lions' finishers.

Tulsa had four runners in the top-eight and won the team title with 33 points. Missouri State was second, followed by Oklahoma Baptist, Drury, Pittsburg State, Southwest Baptist, Colorado Christian and Missouri S&T to round out the top ten team scores.

The Lions will be back in action on September 22 when Southern travels to the University of Arkansas to compete in the Chili Pepper Invite.
