The Missouri Southern cross country programs swept the weekly MIAA awards today as the league announced the Cross Country Male and Female Athlete of the Week honors.
Nickson Kiptoo and Ashlee Kuykendall swept the award for the Lions this week.
Kiptoo helped the Lions dominate at the University of Central Missouri Mule Run this past weekend as he won a race that saw Southern place four runners in the top five and all nine runners in the top 21. Kiptoo traversed the course in a time of 25:27.24, just seven-tenths of a second in front of teammate Gidieon Kimutai.
Kuykendall placed second, but was the top MIAA runner at the University of Central Missouri Mule Run this past weekend. She crossed the finish line of the 6k course in a time of 22:16.05 as the Lions placed third overall as a team.
The Lions will be back in action on November 3 when the team will travel to Emporia State for the 2018 MIAA Cross Country Championships.
