Janelle Brehm had nine kills, while Shaylon Sharp added six, and the Missouri Southern women's volleyball team fell three sets to none tonight at Missouri Western. Individual set scores were 15-25, 14-25 and 12-25.
Southern (3-23, 3-13 MIAA) was led offensively by Brehm who had nine kills and five digs. Sharp added six kills and four digs, while Kylee Kaaihue dished out 19 assists and added seven digs.
Western (14-15, 6-10 MIAA) was led by Rachel Losch with 11 kills and Lauren Murphy added 35 assists.
Set one saw six tied scores and one lead change as a 4-0 run by the Griffons forced a Lions timeout and set the pace for the set.
Set two saw two ties and one lead change with a mid-set 5-2 run from the Griffons putting Western on top 14-9 and the Lions didn't get any closer.
Set three had the Griffons lead from start to finish.
The Lions will finish up the regular season next weekend as Southern travels to Central Missouri on Friday and Lindenwood on Saturday. Both matches start at 6 pm.
