The Missouri Southern volleyball team will go back on the road this weekend as the Lions will play at Northwest Missouri on Friday and Missouri Western on Saturday.
Southern (3-21, 3-11 MIAA) had a solid showing last week from Janelle Brehm as the sophomore averaged 4.36 kills per set and 3.09 digs per set, while hitting .241 in three matches. Last week Kylee Kaaihue averaged 9.36 assists per set and Morgan Nash was at 4.73 digs per set. Alicia Pickett and Olivia Lewis both averaged 1.00 blocks per set, while the Lions, as a team, averaged 1.73 blocks per set.
Northwest Missouri (19-6, 11-3 MIAA) has won 14 of its last 17 matches. The Bearcats are led by Maddy Bruder who averages 4.16 kills per set and 3.09 digs per set. Maddy Ahrens averages 11.15 assists per set, while Olivia Nowakowski is averaging 4.45 digs per set this season. The Bearcats have clinched a spot in the 2018 MIAA Volleyball Tournament.
Western (12-15, 4-10 MIAA) sits just one game in front of the Lions in the MIAA standings. The Griffons and Lions played earlier in the season and Southern took out the Griffs in a thrilling 3-2 set win where the Lions came from 2-0 down to win.
The Griffons are led by Stephanie Doak at 3.82 kills per set. Lauren Murphy is dishing out 10.92 assists per set, while Audrey Keim averages 5.35 digs per set.

The Lions will finish out the regular season next weekend with matches at Central Missouri and Lindenwood on Friday and Saturday.
