MSSU women's golf places third in final event of fall season

Parkville, Mo. -- The Missouri Southern women's golf team placed third today in its final event of the fall season as the Lions competed at the Park University Fall Classic hosted at The National Golf Club of Kansas City.

Kylie Carnes improved by 11 strokes in round two to finish tied for sixth with a two-round total of 169. Maggie Moore was also tied for fifth at 169 after shooting a round-two score of 88.

Elizabeth Poe shot a 182 and finished 12th, while Madison Soetaert finished 41st at 211. Allison Cunningham withdrew after round one.



Southern placed three individuals in the top 12 and finished tied for third as a team. The Lions shot three strokes better in day two and shot a 723 over two rounds.

Oklahoma Wesleyan won the tournament by three strokes over Truman State. The Lions and Missouri Baptist tied for third, followed by Park, Friends, Ottawa and Graceland to round out the team totals.

The Lions will now take the winter off and start their season back up in March.
