Muskogee, Okla. -- The Missouri Southern Women's Golf team placed 18th today at the Central Region Preview hosted by Northeastern State at Muskogee Country Club.
Southern improved its overall stroke total from round one to two by ten strokes. Northeastern State won the tournament by three strokes over Central Missouri. Southwestern Oklahoma was third, followed by Henderson State, Missouri Western, Nebraska-Kearney, Lindenwood, Central Oklahoma, Minnesota State, Northwest Missouri, Oklahoma Baptist, Southern Nazarene, Fort Hays State, Concordia St. Paul, Southern Arkansas, Harding, Northwestern Oklahoma and the Lions to round out the team scores.
Kylie Carnes again led the Lions, improving her round one score by a stroke to finish with a 161, tied for 43rd. Kaitlyn Gilliland was tied for 82nd after improving by two strokes today to finish with a 176. Maggie Moore shot a 177 and was tied for 84th, while Elizabeth Poe improved by 12 strokes to finish at 188, tied for 92nd.
The Lions will wrap up the fall season on October 22 and 23 when the Lions travel to the Park University Fall Invite, hosted at the National Golf Club of Kansas City.
