Hot Springs, Ark. -- The Missouri Southern men's golf team posted a seven-under par today and finished tied for seventh overall as the Lions competed in the Battle for the Belt hosted by Henderson State University at Hot Springs Country Club.
Three different Lions posted under-par scores in the final day of action today. Adam Vining posted a four-under par 68 in the final round, while Taylor Haltom registered a three-under 69. Tristan Haltom finished the tournament at one-under on the day, while Jeremy Dunham and Logan Greer were at one-over and two-over, respectively.
Tristan Haltom placed fifth individually as he posted a five-under par 211 for the tournament. Vining was tied for 12th with a 214 over the three days. Dunham finished tied for 55th at 224, while Taylor Haltom finished tied for 57th at a 225. Greer finished tied for 82nd at a 229.
Henderson State shot a 15-under par as a team over the three days and won by 11 strokes over second-place Southern Arkansas. Central Missouri was third, followed by Maryville, Southwestern Oklahoma, Arkansas Tech, Southern, Central Oklahoma, Northeastern State and Lindenwood to round out the top ten. Southern Nazarene was 11th, followed by Delta State, Harding, Texas-Tyler, Oklahoma Baptist, Lincoln and Northwestern Oklahoma.
The Lions will conclude the fall season in two weeks when Southern will be at the Lincoln University Fall Invitational on October 15 and 16. This tournament will serve as the second MIAA points event of the fall.
