MSSU men's golf tied for third after day one of Blue Tiger Invite

Jefferson City, Mo. -- The Missouri Southern men's golf team finished tied for third after day one of the 2018 Blue Tiger Invite hosted by Lincoln University at Jefferson City Country Club.

Due to weather and course conditions, only two rounds of the planned three will be played at the tournament.

Tristan Haltom led the Lions' effort after one round, shooting a one-over par on the back nine and followed that up with a one under on the front to shoot even par for the day and finish tied for 5th. Jeremy Dunham shot a two-over on the front, but shot one-under on the back to finish one-over par 73 and tied for ninth individually.



Logan Greer shot a 75 and finished tied for 17th, while Taylor Haltom shot a 79, tied for 54th. Adam Vining shot an 81 and is tied for 70th, while Tripper Jensen (competing as an individual) shot an 82 and is tied for 82nd.

The Lions are tied with Winona State at third with a day-one 299, ten strokes off of first-place Henderson State. Lindenwood is second at 297. Southern and Winona State are tied at third, followed by Central Oklahoma, Missouri Western, Central Missouri, William Woods, Northeastern State, Northwestern Oklahoma, Missouri S&T, Washburn, Lincoln, Sioux Falls, Concordia-St. Paul, Quincy, Southwest Baptist and Fort Hays State to round out the team scores.

This meet is the final MIAA points event of the fall. A final 18 holes will be played tomorrow, with the Lions teeing off at 9:50 am.
