MSSU soccer falls in defensive battle with Missouri Western

(From MSSU Lions Athletic News)

The Missouri Southern Women's soccer team limited Missouri Western to six shots the entire game, but one found the back of the net for a 1-0 loss inside Fred G. Hughes Stadium Sunday afternoon.

Junior forward Tayler LePage led the Lions (7-5-2, 3-3-1 MIAA) with two shots while four others put up one shot each.

The Griffons (10-4, 5-2 MIAA) scored the game-winner on a takeaway in front of the net in the 24th minute of the first period.

Junior goalkeeper Luz Galindo faced all six shots and made two saves, including an incredible one-handed save off a jump that deflected the ball over the crossbar to keep the team within one.

Southern is back in action against Fort Hays State on Oct. 19 at 6:00 pm before welcoming Nebraska-Kearney for a Sunday match scheduled for 1:00 pm.
