MSSU soccer falls in final regular season match

Edmond, Okla. - The Missouri Southern women's soccer team closed out the regular season with a 2-1 loss to No. 5 Central Oklahoma inside Tom Thompson Field Sunday afternoon.

The Lions (7-8-3, 3-6-2 MIAA) tied the match up at 1-1 after senior midfielder Alex McCord connected on a penalty shot for her fourth goal of the season. Senior Jeannine Escobar, sophomore Sarah Tatum, and freshman Courtney Marten each registered a shot as well.

Junior goalkeeper Luz Galindo made eight saves on 24 total-shots faced in all 90 minutes of play.



UCO's (17-1, 10-1 MIAA) Katie Killion recorded both goals on the day for the Bronchos. The first one came in the 15th minute of the first period from the right side of box and then the second one in the 71st minute off a crossing pass toward the front of the box as the Bronchos retook the lead towards the win.

Southern will now head into the offseason looking to build upon the 2018 season that began with the program's best start through ten games (6-2-2), which included a huge 2-2 tie at No. 8 Central Missouri, while returning 15 underclassman that saw significant time in over ten matches during the season.
