MSSU men's cross country wins Central Missouri Mule Run, records four of top five finishes

Warrensburg, Mo. -- The Missouri Southern men's cross country team had four of the top five finishers and all nine runners in the top 21 as the Lions easily won the Central Missouri Mule Run today.

Nickson Kiptoo and Gidieon Kimutain were first and second and a mere seven-tenths of a second separated the top two runners. Kiptoo finished in a time of 25:27.24, while Kimutai crossed the line of the 8k run in a time of 25:27.97.

Cody Berry and Josh Webb placed fourth and fifth, respectively and just a tenth of a second separated this duo as Berry finished in a time of 25:33.61 and Webb crossed at 25:33.71.

Mike Shanahan was 10th at 25:59.31, while Tadd Capron crossed right behind in 11th at 26:11.21. Jared Ozee finished 14th in a time of 26:22.98, while Kevin Koester crossed the line in a time of 26:36.04. Nathan Painter finished 21st in a time of 26:47.48.



Southern finished with 22 points, while Southwest Baptist was second with 65. Pittsburg State finished third, followed by Central Missouri, Missouri S&T, Missouri Western and Drury to round out the team scores.

The Lions will be back in action on November 3 as Southern gears up for the 2018 MIAA Championships, hosted by Emporia State.
