MSSU soccer drops 4-0 decision to Northwest Missouri State in regular season finale

Maryville, Mo. - Sophomore Bailey Belcher registered eight shots, one behind the second for a single game, but the Missouri Southern women's soccer team closed out the regular season with a 4-0 loss to the Northwest Missouri State Bearcats Sunday afternoon.

Belcher added three shots on goal as well to the lead the Lions (3-14-1, 2-8-1 MIAA) in the final match of 2019. Freshman Samantha White got off two shot attempts while six other teammates added one apiece.

Senior goalkeeper Luz Galindo ends her career for the Lions second in goals against average (1.49) and third in saves (253) all-time after registering nine saves today in 90 minutes played.








Senior forward Jessica Edwards and defender Brianna Smith also started and play in their final matches for the Lions. Edwards concluded the season as the leader in points (9) and goals (4) while Smith finished as the leader in assists (3), tied for second in points (7), and second in minutes (1,548) as one of two players to start in every match this season.

NWMSU (6-9-3, 4-5-2 MIAA) scored the first goal on a cross from the right-side of the field towards the goal and off a teammate in the first three minutes of the match and then added one around the 13th-minute mark to take a 2-0 lead into halftime. The Bearcats scored two more in the second period in the win.
