Kirksville, Mo. -- A 25-foot three pointer as time expired helped lift the Truman State Bulldogs over the visiting seventh-ranked Missouri Southern men's basketball team 71-68  Thursday night inside Pershing Arena in Kirksville.

Truman (2-3) got 23 points from Brodric Thomas and 20 points from Cade McKnight.

An 11-4 run for the Lions mid-way through the first half gave Southern a 20-14 lead after a three from Walker. The lead was nine (33-24) after a free throw from Reggie Tharp with a minute and a half to play, but a 4-0 run by Truman to end the half sent the Lions into the locker room up 33-28.

The game was tight throughout the second half with the Lions' largest lead at six twice, the last after a layup from Martin made the score 44-38 with 14:31 left to play in the half.
