Southern soccer plays to scoreless tie with Ouachita Baptist

Arkadelphia, Ark. -- The Missouri Southern soccer team out shot Ouachita Baptist 8-6, including three shots on goal in the first overtime period, but the Lions and Tigers played to a scoreless tie today in Arkadelphia.

Southern (0-2-1) got two shots on goal from Carina Calderon, Julia Liberty, and Brianna Smith, while Bailey North had a shot, as well. Daritsa Herrera made six saves in goal and went the entire 110 minutes.

OBU (1-1-1) got three shots on goal from Brianna Lozano and eight saves from Erin Webster in goal.

The Lions had their chances in the overtime period as back-to-back-to-back shots on goal from North, Smith and Liberty were all stopped by Webster. A late shot by Maria Sturlson went wide as the first overtime ended.

The Tigers out shot the Lions 2-1 in the second overtime, but both keepers came up strong.

The Lions will be back in action this Sunday as Southern travels to Harding for a matchup with the Bison. Kickoff is slated for 3 pm.
