The Missouri Southern men's golf team will head to Warrensburg to compete in the 2017 Central Missouri Mule Invitational held at The Mule on Mule National Golf Club.
This will be the first MIAA points event of the season and will feature each of the MIAA golf programs, as well as Henderson State, Minnesota State, Arkansas Tech, Upper Iowa, Augustana, Harding and Southwestern Oklahoma.
The Lions will bring Connor Neil, a 2017 NCAA Division II Regional participant, as well as Tristan Haltom, Tripper Jensen, Adam Vining and Taylor Haltom to comprise the first travel squad.
Head Coach Mike Wheeler said competition has been strong prior to this first trip for the right to travel. He beleives he has a strong group of five heading to Warrensburg.
"We played four rounds of qualifying and these five separated themselves from their teammates," Wheeler said. "Now we will see how they are against tough MIAA and regional tams at a newly renovated Mule National. We play 36 holes tomorrow and the course is in good shape. This will be a good ten hour test of how solid we are from top to bottom."
The Lions will play 36 holes on Monday and the final 18 on Tuesday.
