The Missouri Southern golf team will be back in action Monday and Tuesday when the Lions travel to Muskogee, Okla. to compete in the 2017 NSU Men's Fall Classic hosted by Northeastern State at Muskogee CC.
The Lions are coming off of a sixth place finish last week at Central Missouri in the first MIAA points event of the season. Southern finished fourth amongst MIAA schools and junior Tristan Haltom was the top finishing MIAA individual to sit in first-place after one event in the individual standings.
The Lions will bring Connor Neil, Taylor Haltom, Tristan Haltom, Tripper Jensen and Jake Becker as the scoring five, while also bringing Logan Greer as an individual.
The teams will play 36 holes on Monday with the final 18 holes on Tuesday.
"I should have been satisfied with our sixth-place finish last week, but I wasn't, not at all," said head coach Mike Wheeler. "If we would have played as well the last round as we did the first two, which we are capable of , second woudl have been our finish. Adam Vining injured his wrist last week, so Jake Becker is stepping into the five spot for the first time. We're at Muscogee CC and there will be birdies to be had in this 54-hole regional tournament with opportunity for us to improve our position in the rankings."
