MSSU volleyball to open MIAA play this weekend

The Missouri Southern volleyball team will open up MIAA play this weekend as the Lions play host to No. 10 Central Oklahoma on Friday at 6 pm and Pittsburg State on Saturday at 2 pm.

Southern enters the matches 7-6 overall after dropping a midweek match at Drury on Tuesday night. Freshman Janelle Brehm leads the offensive attack for the Lions as she is averaging 3.66 kills per set and 2.38 digs per set, while posting a 0.47 blocks per set mark. Freshman Morgan Nash is dishing out 10.32 assists per set, while sophomore Alicia Pickett is averaging 1.30 blocks per set and junior Erica Freudinger is at 1.19 blocks per set, as well.

Central Oklahoma is 13-1 overall and ranked tenth nationally. The Bronchos have the top record in the MIAA and have won ten matches in a row.

Pittsburg State is 3-9 and the Gorillas have dropped three matches in a row.
