(From Southern News Service)

The Missouri Southern Athletics department announces information regarding Bacon Night 2017.

During the September 16th Lions football game against Emporia State all fans entering Fred G. Hughes Stadium will receive free cooked bacon samples. Along with the bacon samples, the first 500 fans into the stadium will receive a commemorative 2017 MSSU Bacon Night stress bacon strip. Before the game, the athletics department will be collecting canned food items in front of the stadium for Soul's Harbor located in Joplin. Each fan who brings at least 20 items will receive a voucher for $5 off of their game ticket price at the gate.

Bacon night was voted on by the fans during a contest held over the summer called "Pick the Promo." Over 300 votes were cast and Bacon Night was selected as the winner.

"We are really excited about Bacon Night 2017," said Randon Coffey director of athletics marketing and sponsorships. "The fans have spoken and from having free bacon at the stadium, to also helping collect food for a great local organization here in Joplin we think it will be a fun night for the fans and community."

Kickoff is scheduled for 6 pm. During halftime, the 2017 Missouri Southern Athletics Hall of Fame class will be honored and following the game will be a post-game fireworks spectacular. Tickets for the game will be $13 for adults, $5 for youth ages 13-18, and kids 12 and under are free. For more information on the game or to purchase tickets go to www.mssulions.com.
