Warrensburg, Mo. -- The Missouri Southern golf team finished tied for sixth and Tristan Haltom finished fifth individually as the Lions competed at The Mule, hosted by Central Missouri at Mules National Golf Club.
Haltom finished just two shots off the lead as he shot a final round 74 to finish with a three-round total of 214. Connor Neil shot a final round 74 to finish with a 218 and tied for 14th place, while Taylor Haltom shot a 77 today to finish tied for 25th place with a 221. Tripper Jensenshot a final round 77 to finish tied for 65th place with a total of 231. Adam Vining withdrew before the start of the round.
As a team, the Lions were tied for sixth place with Central Missouri's B team at a three-round total of 883. Arkansas Tech won with a three-round total of 857, beating out Central Oklahoma's total of 871. Henderson State was third, followed by Washburn, Missouri Western, Southern, Central Missouri (B), Minnesota State, Central Missouri (A) and Southwestern Oklahoma to round out the top ten.
Harding was 11th, followed by Lindenwood, Nebraska-Kearney, Southwest Baptist, Northeastern State, Augustana, Lincoln, Upper Iowa, Central Missouri (C) and Fort Hays State finalize the team scores.
After one event, the MIAA standings have Central Oklahoma in first, followed by Washburn, Missouri Western, Southern, Central Missouri, Lindenwood, Nebraska-Kearney, Southwest Baptist, Northeastern State, Lincoln and Fort Hays State.
Individually, Haltom is in first place after one event as he was the top individual at the event that was part of a team score. Neil is in 8th place after one event.
The Lions will be in action next week as they travel to Northeastern State to compete at Muskogee Country Club on Monday and Tuesday.
