Late goal lifts William Jewell soccer over Missouri Southern

Joplin, Mo. -- A goal in the 77th minute lifted the Wiliam Jewell Cardinals over the Missouri Southern soccer team, 1-0 in non-conference action.

The Lions (0-2) had a 5-3 advantage in shots on goal, but WJC (1-0) out shot the Lions 12-10 overall.

Sarah Tatum led the Lions with three shots, while Taylor Beck had a game-high two shots on goal. Mikayla Hutchison had two shots, as well.

William Jewell got a late goal from Lexy Hawkins off of an assist from Alyson Galler.

The Lions will be back in action on September 8 when they travel to Ouachita Baptist for a 3 pm kickoff.
