MSSU men's cross country captures first place at Bolivar

Bolivar, Mo. -- The tenth-ranked Missouri Southern men's cross country team came away with a win Saturday morning as the Lions competed at the Bearcat Classic hosted by Southwest Baptist University.

Running at Bolivar CC, the Lions placed three runners in the top ten and all five scoring times in the top 15. The Lions scored 38 points as a team, defeating second-place Central Missouri by 22 points.

Cody Berry was second with a time of 19:54.96 over the four-mile course. Nickson Kiptoo placed fourth in a time of 20:03.71, while Jared Haltom was ninth, Josh Webbwas 13th and Todd Capron was 15th.

Jared Ozee placed 33rd and Nathan Painter was 35th, while Ryan Drendel and Trevor Shanks placed 52nd and 54th.

Columbia College placed third, while Missouri S&T, Washburn, Southwest Baptist and Drury round out the team scores.

The Lions will be back in action next week running at the Forest Park Cross Country Festival hosted by Saint Louis University.
