MSSU men's cross country takes fourth at Southern Stampede

Joplin, Mo. -- The Missouri Southern men's cross country team had two runners in the top 14 and finished fourth overall as the Lions competed in the 28th running of the Missouri Southern Stampede today at the Tom Rutledge Cross Country Course.

Nickson Kiptoo was eighth with a time of 24:58.30, while Jared Haltom was 14th in a time of 25:07.37. Josh Webbwas 39th in a time of 25:49.79 while Mike Shanahan was 51st in a time of 26:02.65.

Tyler Rush finished 70th with a time of 26:25.10. Trevor Shank was 134th, while Todd Capron was 143rd and Josh Ames finished 154th. Nathan Painter was 161st, while Jared Ozee finished 173rd.

Wichita State won the team title, while Rogers State, Dallas Baptist, Southern and West Texas A&M filled out the top five team spots. Missouri Valley was sixth, followed by Oklahoma City, Oklahoma Christian, Fort Hays State, Lindenwood, Pittsburg State, Allen County, Emporia State, Harding, Tulsa, East Central, Missouri S&T, Newman, Southern Arkansas and Southwest Baptist to round out the top 20 team scores.

The Lions will be back in action on October 7 when they travel to Romeoville, Ill to compete in the MIAA/GLVC crossover hosted by Lewis University.
