Warrensburg, Mo. -- The Missouri Southern golf team is in a tie for fourth place and Tristan Haltom is in a tie for second individually, as the Lions competed at the Central Missouri Mule Classic held at Mules National Golf Club in Warrensburg.
Tristan Haltom shot a first round one-over 71 and followed that up with a two-under 68 in round two to finish tied for second, just one stroke off the lead, with a one-under 139 on the day. Connor Neil shot a 69 in round one and a 75 in round two to finish with a 144 after 36 holes, while freshman Taylor Haltom shot a 74 in round one and a 70 in round two to card a 144, tied with Neil for 12th place individually.
Tripper Jensen shot a 78 in round one and a 76 in round two to finish with a 154 and Adam Vining shot a 78 in round one and an 81 in round two to finish with a 159.
The Lions, as a team, shot a 292 in round one and followed that up with a 581 in round two to finish tied with Missouri Western for fourth place overall after 36 holes. Henderson State and Arkansas Tech are just five strokes in front of the Lions with a two-round 576 and in first place. Washburn shot a 579 for third place, while Southern, Missouri Western, Central Oklahoma, Central Missouri (A), Harding, Central Missouri (B) and Minnesota State round out the top ten teams.
Southwestern Oklahoma, Lindenwood, Nebraska-Kearney, Augustana, Northeastern State, Lincoln, Central Missouri (C), Fort Hays, Southwest Baptist and Upper Iowa round out the team scores.
The Lions will finish out the tournament tomorrow with 18 holes.
