MSSU soccer wraps up road trip this weekend

MSSU Soccer team wraps up its four-game road trip this weekend with a couple matches, beginning at Missouri Western on Friday, Sept. 29 at 6 pm and finishing up on Sunday against Northwest Missouri for a 12:30 pm battle to kick off the month of October.

The Lions stand at 0-5-2 on the season after dropping their last two contests to Central Oklahoma, 3-1 and Northeastern State, 1-0, to close out the weekend in Oklahoma.

MWSU enters Friday's game as the leader in total shots (186 and shots on goal (97), reigning in the top-five of every other statistical category. The Griffons are currently third in the MIAA (7-1, 1-0) thanks to five shutout victories and a perfect 4-0 on home turf. They are coming off a weekend split, first falling to Central Missouri, 2-0, before rebounding with a 2-0 victory of their own at Lindenwood two days later.

NWMSU on the other hand is ninth in the MIAA standings (3-4, 0-1) and holds a 0-2 record at home. The Bearcats also come off a weekend split after defeating Lindenwood, 2-1, before being shut out by Central Missouri, 6-0.
