Missouri Southern Stampede cross country meet set for Saturday

The Missouri Southern cross country program will play host to one of the largest cross country meets in the country tomorrow as the Lions host the 28th annual Missouri Southern Stampede at the Tom Rutledge Cross Country Course.

The Southern men come into the race ranked 12th nationally and tops in the Central Region, while the women are ranked 8th in the latest Central Region poll.

The meet will feature 26 different Division II teams and five different Division I squads. With four different collegiate races and six different high school races, the Tom Rutledge Cross Country Course will see nearly 3,000 runners and not to mention thousands of spectators on Saturday.

On the men's side in the Division II race, the Lions are ranked 12th and West Texas is 16th. The women's race features the 24th ranked Dallas Baptist Patriots.

The Division I race features the fifth ranked Arkansas men and 12th ranked Arkansas women. The Tulsa men are ranked 21st.

The college/juco women's race will open up the action at 8 am with the university women's race running at 8:30 am. The college/juco men's race will be run at 9:00 am, with the university race running at 9:45 am. The awards ceremony for the collegiate races will be at 11 am. The high school races will begin at approximately 11 am with the last race starting at 1 pm.
