MSSU women's cross country records 10th place finish at Southern Stampede

Joplin, Mo. -- The Missouri Southern women's cross country team placed tenth overall and sixth amongst Division II schools as the Lions competed in the 28th running of the Southern Stampede at the Tom Rutledge Cross Country Course.

Ashlee Kuykendall led the Lions' charge with a 22nd place finish in a time of 17:59.59 over the 5k course. Sierra Wells placed 45th with a time of 18:25.84, while Christian Provence was 62nd in a time of 18:40.90.

Danielle Prince was 76th, while Sarah Usher placed 81st. Gabrielle Hill placed 118th, while Mady Gepford was 138th and Shelby Werner was 145th. Julianna Determanwas 156th, while Abbi Rogers placed 162nd. Layne Karhoff was 183rd, while Shelby Jackson was 255th.

Tulsa won the individual team title, while Dallas Baptist, Oklahoma Baptist, Wichita State, and Arkansas round out the top five team socres. Pittsburg State, Missouri State, Oklahoma City, Southern, Fort Hays State, East Central, Midwestern State, Harding, Missouri S&T, West Texas A&M, Texas A&M Commerce, Texas A&M International, Newman and Drury round out the top 20 team scores.

The Lions will be back in action on October 7 when they travel to Romeoville, Ill to compete in the MIAA/GLVC crossover hosted by Lewis University.
