Brehm's 16 kills not enough as MSSU volleyball falls to Drury

Springfield, Mo. -- The Missouri Southern Volleyball team picked up a 16-kill performance from Janelle Brehm, but the Lions couldn't quite get past Drury tonight as the Lions lost in three sets.

The Lions (7-6) dropped set one 20-25 and the final two sets 22-25 and 23-25. Brehm led the way offensiely with 16 kills and seven digs, while Alicia Pickett had eight kills and four blocks, hitting .444 in the match. Morgan Nashdished out 34 assists, while Bailey Rexford had eight kills. Teryn Scot and Kat Gries had nine digs each.

Drury (9-2) had two with double-figure kills, led by Bentley Mara's 14.

Set one saw 16 tied scores and four lead changes before Drury took a 20-19 lead and didn't look back. Set two saw three ties and one lead change, while set three saw just one tie as Drury never trailed in the set.

The Lions will be back in action this Friday as they play host to Central Oklahoma at 6 pm inside Young Gym.
