MSSU's Presley increases national lead in pole vault with school record

Pittsburg, Kan. -- Emily Presley broke her own school record in the pole vault, increasing her own national lead in the event as the women's track and field team competed at Pittsburg State today.

Presley hit a mark of 14 feet to win the pole vault and increase her NCAA automatic qualifying mark and national leading mark in the event. The mark ranks tenth nationally in the NCAA in all divisions. Samantha Donnell was 12th, while Mylene Loridan placed 14th in the pole vault.

In other action, Desirea Buerge hit a provisional mark and won the discus with a throw of 163-01. Buerge was also fifth in the shot put, while Jenson Maydew finished eighth. Halee Cashio finished eighth in the hammer with a distance of 143-06.

Kristen Koch and Ronise Miller placed 12th and 15th in the 200m, while Rachel Ray and Kelsey Evans placed 5th and 6th in the 400m. Sara Lin was eighth in the 800m, while Morgan Smith was fourth in the 100m hurdles in a time of 14.12. Smith also placed fifth in the 400m hurdles with a time of 1:05.96.

Allie Heckemeyer placed 6th in the long jump with a distance of 17-11.50, while Tiffany Gilford was fifth in the triple jump with a distance of 35-01.25.

In action, Friday, Emily Harris placed 16th in the 1,500m run at the Mt. Sac Relays with a time of 4:34.32.

The Lions will be back in action next weekend with split action at both the KU Relays and Missouri S&T.
