Joplin, Mo. -- The Missouri Southern men's track and field team had three event wins today at the Bill Williams/Bob Laptad Invitational held inside Fred G. Hughes Stadium.
Vincent Kiprop, Nickson Kiptoo and Daniel Hernandez all won events today.
Kiprop won the 1,500m in a time of 3:51.94, while Tyler Rush, Cody Berry and Jared Haltom placed 7th, 11th and 12th. Kiptoo won the 3k steeple with a time of 9:51.43, while Josh Webb placed fourth.
Daniel Hernandez won the javelin in a provisional distance of 219-06, while Garrett Austin and Kyle Parr placed 6th and 12th, respectively. Bryan Burns was third in the shot put with a distance of 57-09.50, while Austin and Junior Joseph placed 8th and 9th in the hammer.
Keson Payton was fourth in the 100m dash, while Thomas Hawkins placed seventh in the 200m. Matt Willis placed second in the 400m hurdles, while Cody Vogt and Chance Johnson placed second and sixth in the high jump. Dean Howard was seventh and Cortland Potter ninth in the pole vault.
Johnson was second in the long jump, while Mike Watson placed fifth.
The 4x100m relay team of Dausen Gourley, Payton, Brendan Watkins and Jordyn Manier placed second in a time of 41.20, while the 4x400m relay team of Hawkins, Parr, Powell and Willis placed second in a time of 3:25.05.
The Lions will be back in action next weekend, taking part in the 2017 MIAA Outdoor Championships, hosted by Southwest Baptist in Bolivar.
