Southern will be one of seven men's teams competing at Big Creek and joined by hosts Henderson State, Arkansas-Monticello, Arkansas-Ft. Smith, Missouri Western, Southern Nazarene, and Southern Arkansas.

The Green & Gold has their best 54 hole score as a team last week in the St. Edward's Invitational at Onion Creek Country Club in Austin, Texas with an 869 (290-289-290). Southern enters the Southern Bancorp Invitational ranked 11th in the Central Region and 78th in NCAA D-2 with a scoring average of 300.16.

"The team played well last week in Texas," said head coach Mike Wheeler. "They are hitting [the ball] nicely. We just need good proximity to the hole on our approaches and to sink some putts. With the weather being iffy on Monday, every hole we get to play is more important than ususal."

Qualifying for the Invitational were junior Connor Neil, seniors Taylor Lansford, Cameron Hamilton and Phillip Roller, and freshman Chase Rogers. Freshman Caleb Fischer will be making his Green & Gold debut as an individual.

Neil tied for first last week at Onion Creek with a three round 204 which included a career low 66 in the second round. Neil is currently ranked 30th in the Central Region. Lansford, currently ranked 20th in the region, is coming off his second best 54 hole tournament with a 214 at the St. Edward's Invitational that included a season low 69 in the final round that allowed him to move up 23 spots to finish with a share of 12th place. Hamilton is also coming off his second best 54 hole score with a 221 in Austin, Texas last week and is also ranked regionally at 43. Hamilton shot a season low 71 in the opening round at Onion Creek last week. Rogers carded a 54 hole total of 230 last week, while Roller finished at Onion Creek wit a 241.
