MSSU golf in 10th place after 36 holes at Tiger Classic

Hays, Kan. - The Missouri Southern Men's Golf team finished in 10th place after the first two rounds of the Tiger Classic, a MIAA points event, at the Smoky Hill Country Club on Tuesday.

Sophomore Tripper Jensen led the Lions in the opening round with an 8-over 78 while junior Connor Neil assumed the team lead in round two with a 6-over 76. Neil leads the team after the first 36 holes with a 155 with Jensen and freshman Chase Rogers two strokes back at 157. Senior Taylor Lansford shot an opening day of 158 and junior Carter Towey, in his Southern debut, shot a 160.

Central Missouri leads the team standings with an even par 560 followed by Lindenwood at 580, Northeastern State at 585, Central Oklahoma at 586, and Nebraska-Kearney at 596 to round out the top five. Missouri Western finished the first day in sixth with a 601 followed by the hosts, Fort Hays State, at 602, Washburn at 603, Southwest Baptist with a 610, the Lions at 626, and the Lincoln Blue Tigers with a 630.

Alex Springer of UCM leads the individual medalist contest after shooting a course record 9-under 61 in the second round.

Round three will begin with tee times at 8:30, the final group will take to the course at 10:20.
