Missouri Southern volleyball signs three

Missouri Southern volleyball coach John Napier has announced the signing of three individuals to his 2017 signing class.

The list includes one high school player, as well as a junior college and a DIII transfer.

Morgan Nash is a 5-6 setter out of Tucson, Ariz. Where she was a four-year letter winner for coach Rachel Balsiger at Sahuaro High School. A three-time All-Section and All-Division Team selection, Nash helped her team to a record of 69-10 over her final two seasons.

The daughter of Pat and Suzanne Nash, Morgan plans to major in biology and pre-med at Missouri Southern.

"Morgan comes from a highly-respected club program in Arizona and she has been well-trained in the setting position," Napier said. "Her club and high school teams were pretty competitive and successful and we're positive she will bring those attributes with her here in Joplin."

Addison Berry

Addison Berry is a 5-6 defensive specialist that hails from Riverton, Kan. and transfers to Southern after two years at Fort Scott Community College. Last season at FSCC, Berry played in ten matches, averaging 1.29 digs per set, while helping the Greyhounds to a 27-11 record.

Berry prepped at Riverton HS where she played volleyball, basketball and softball. A three-year starter on the volleyball court for coach Pam Bevis, Berry was an All-Conference selection in both her junior and senior seasons. As a softball player, Berry was a two-time All-Conference pick, while earning All-State honors, twice, as well and helping the Rams to two District Championships and back-to-back final four appearances in the State Championship.

Berry is the daughter of Todd and Kelli Berry. Her father is the superintendent of the Riverton School District and Berry plans to major in biology education at MSSU.

"Addi brings us some experience in the back row," Napier said. "Her experience at Fort Scott will help improve our ball control. She brings good academics with her as well. We're happy to have her join the Lions family!"

Erica Freudinger is a 6-1 middle and is a native of Peotone, Ill. Freudinger transfers to MSSU after two years at Division III Dominican University in Illinois. This past season at Domincan, Freudinger played in 26 matches with 11 starts, and averaged 1.23 kills per set, while hitting .213 and adding 0.83 blocks per set. She ranked fifth in the league in blocks per set.

The daughter of Mark and Sheryl Freudinger, Erica will be a kinesiology major at MSSU.

"Erica has proven success on and off the court," Napier said. "She has some solid numbers coming in as a transfer and will help us improve our blocking and offensive production. Here height and ability to run slides will give us a more diverse and lethal offense. Welcome aboard Erica!"

Napier expects another signee to be announced in the coming days.
