Joplin, Mo. -- Missouri Southern volleyball coach John Napier has announced the addition of Cassie Walton to his list of newcomers for the 2017 season.
Walton is a 5-9 outside hitter/defensive specialist that comes from Stillwater (Okla.) High School where she was a three-year letter winner and starter for the Pioneers. An All-Conference selection, Walton has the third-most digs and aces in a single-season at SHS, as well as the third-best serving percentage in a season.
Walton comes from an athletic family as her father, Rob, is the pitching coach at Oklahoma State University. Her brother, Davis, was an offensive lineman at Tulsa, while her other brother, Donovan, was an All-American on the baseball team at Oklahoma State and is currently a minor league baseball player in the Seattle Mariners organization. Walton is the daughter of Robert and Michelle Walton and is undecided on her future major at MSSU.
"Cassie plays with a pretty high volleyball IQ," said Napier. "Her serve and ball control are some of her strengths and I believe she can help us down the road. Another good student, Cassie brings intelligence both on and off the court. We welcome her to the pride!"
