The Missouri Southern women's track and field team had three event wins and four provisional/automatic qualifying performances as the Lions competed at the Bill Williams/Bob Laptad Invitational today inside Fred G. Hughes Stadium.
Cynthia Torres and Desirea Buerge had event wins, while the 4x400m relay team picked up a win today.
Torres won the 1,500m in a time of 4:44.31, while Christian Provence and Sierra Wells placed fifth and seventh in the event.
Buerge won the discus in a provisional distance of 161-03, while placing seventh in the shot put. Jenson Maydew was ninth in the shot, as well.
The 4x400m relay team of Allie Heckemeyer, Kristen Koch, Rachel Ray and Destiny Akannam placed first in a time of 3:52.93, just off the MSSU school record.
Akannam was third int he 200m, while Koch and Ronise Miller placed 11th and 12th, respectively. Sara Lin was sixth in the 800m, while Morgan Smith and Heckemeyer placed 3rd and 12th in the 100m hurdles. Rachel Ray and Kelsey Evans placed 3rd and 4th in the 400m hurdles.
Emily Presley picked up another automatic qualifying mark in the pole vault as she was the top collegian with a height of 13-07.25. Mylene Loridan was sixth with a provisional height of 12-01.50, while Samantha Donnell was 12th.
Sierra Barrett was fourth in the triple jump, while Heckemeyer was fourth in the javelin and Halee Cashio placed eighth in the hammer.
The Lions will be back in action next weekend, taking part in the 2017 MIAA Outdoor Championships, hosted by Southwest Baptist in Bolivar.
