Hays, Kan. -- Sean Goostree struck out 12 in a complete-game shutout as the Missouri Southern baseball team took out Fort Hays State 3-0 in baseball action Sunday.
Southern (23-22, 15-16 MIAA) got a stellar game on the mound from Goostree as he struck out 12, going all nine and scattering five hits. He moved to 3-2 on the season.
Joe Paulino went 3-4 on the day with an RBI. Alec Alvarez and Danny Biggs had two hits, while Biggs scored a run. Max Hogan had a home run, number 12 of the season, while Richie Gorski scored a run and Tyler Sutherland drove in a run.
FHSU (9-32, 2-26 MIAA) got two hits from Ty Reddington. Alex Ruxlow started and went seven innings to move to 4-9 on the season.
Southern scored a run in the second on an RBI from Paulino, and added another in the third to go up 2-0 on Sutherland's RBI. A home run from Hogan in the fifth gave the Lions a 3-0 lead and proved to be the final tally.
The two teams will be back in action tomorrow afternoon with a 12 pm first pitch.
