Weather causes changes in MSSU track and field schedule

(From MSSU Lions Athletic News)

Mother Nature has made her way to disrupting the Missouri Southern track and field schedule as the Lions have changed up plans slightly for this weekend's scheduled two events.

Originally slated to go to both Washington University's Distance Carnival today and Emporia State tomorrow, the Lions will now be at Oral Roberts both today and tomorrow, while still heading to Wash U today.

Live results will be available for both events with live video available at Oral Roberts. Links can be found above.

The Southern women are coming off an impressive meet for their throwers where both Desirea Buerge and Elizabeth Pomatto not only broke school records in their respective events, but both automatically qualified for this year's NCAA Division II Outdoor Track and Field Championships in the process. The women, as a team, are ranked 14th nationally with Pomatto ranking first nationally in the javelin and Buerge second in the discus.

The Southern men also sent throwers to Emporia State last weekend where both Rajheim Carby and Travis Petersen picked up NCAA Provisional Qualifying Marks in the javelin and hammer, respectively.

Events begin today at 11:15 am at Oral Roberts with throwing events. The remainder of the throws and the rest of the running events will conclude tomorrow at Oral Roberts. Events at Washington Univeristy will begin at 2 pm today and conclude sometime this evening.
