(From MSSU Lions Athletic News)

The Missouri Southern women's basketball program landed two players on the All-Mid-America Intercollegiate Athletic Association (MIAA) squad in senior guard Chelsey Henry and junior forward Chasidee Owens released Tuesday afternoon.

After sitting out in the first three games, Henry pounced back onto the scene, averaging 16.0 points per game on 39.7 percent from the field to finish fifth and tenth in the MIAA, respectively in those categories.

She led the team in total points (417), points per game (16.0), field goal attempts and per game (388/14.9), field goals made and per game (154/5.9), and minutes (834) towards a second-team All-MIAA recognition in her final year in the green and gold. She registered double-digits scoring in 21 out of 26 games, including a career-high 35 points in an overtime win at Lincoln along with nine other performances of 20 points or more.

The Neosho native also reached one of the biggest marks in a college career by soaring past the 1,000-point mark in a four-point victory over Illinois-Springfield after shooting 8-for-19 for a team-high 22 points and currently sits in seventh on the MSSU All-Time scoring list with 1,287 points.

In her first year at Missouri Southern, Owens showed activeness on the glass as she led the
team in rebounds (173) and rebounds per game (6.0) for 16th in the MIAA along with 11.4 points per game as the second-leading scorer behind Henry, earning a spot on the MIAA honorable mention list. The Springdale, Arkansas native saw action in all 29 games and reached double-digits scoring 16 times together with two double-doubles throughout the season.
Owens had a pair of 16-point outbursts leading up to her career-high 24-point effort from 70-percent shooting from the floor in a key win versus Southwest Baptist that would eventually carry heavy playoff implications down the stretch.

These two along with the Lions go head-to-head with 7th-seeded Central Oklahoma tomorrow night at 8:15 pm as part of the first round of the MIAA Tournament in Kansas City.
